Professional drag performance for lightweight cinema setups.
The Sachtler Ace XL is the high-performance evolution of the popular Ace series, designed specifically for modern digital cine-style cameras (like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, Sony FX6, or Canon C70) and rigged-up DSLRs. It bridges the gap between entry-level video heads and the heavy-duty Sachtler broadcast systems.
Fiberglass Reinforced Composite: The head is constructed from a lightweight but incredibly rigid composite material, offering a premium feel without the excessive weight of all-metal heads.
8-Step Counterbalance: Unlike basic heads with only a few settings, the Ace XL features an 8-step dial, allowing you to perfectly balance cameras ranging from 2 kg to 8 kg (4.4 to 17.6 lbs). This ensures the camera stays put at any tilt angle.
+3 / 0 Drag Settings: It features three steps of horizontal and vertical drag (plus a zero setting), providing that famous “Sachtler feel”—smooth, consistent pans and tilts without “stiction” or jerking at the start of a move.
Long Sliding Plate: The Ace camera plate has a generous sliding range (104mm), which is essential for balancing cameras with long lenses or heavy V-mount batteries.
