Features

The industry-standard workhorse for precise studio and location exposure.

The Sekonic L-358 Flashmaster is one of the most successful light meters ever made. While newer models like the L-478D have touchscreens, the L-358 remains a favorite among professionals for its tactile “Jog Wheel,” nearly indestructible weather-sealed build, and specialized “Flash Analyzing” mode.
Flash Analyzing Mode: Its standout feature. When measuring flash in a room with ambient light, the meter simultaneously calculates both and displays the percentage of flash in the total exposure. This allows you to dial in the perfect “fill” ratio (e.g., 30% flash, 70% sun) with mathematical precision.
Retractable Lumisphere: The dome can be retracted (lowered) with a simple twist. Use it extended for 3D subjects (like people) to measure light hitting the face from all angles. Use it retracted to measure contrast ratios between lights or for flat subjects like paintings or documents.
Weather-Sealed Design: It features “All-Weather” construction with rubber gaskets, meaning you can confidently use it in the rain or mist without worrying about the electronics.
Dual ISO Settings: You can program two different ISO values (e.g., ISO 100 for your camera and ISO 400 for a backup or second body) and toggle between them instantly to see the required aperture for each.
